The Anzac Day sculptures are made of chicken wire and were produced by the Men's Shed of Bribie Island under the supervision of Derek Patey.
Derek entered "Simpson and Duffy the donkey" into the Ekka Show, where he won best sculpture and Champion sculptures.
The Ekka was originally called the Brisbane Exhibition and is the biggest show in Brisbane, but it is more commonly known as the "Ekka", short for "exhibition". It is run by The Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland.
